“A stitch in time saves nine”, A very common proverb which we all have listened, studied and noted down when we were in school.

But have we ever given a single thought about it, what does it mean? Why we are studying it? When and how we will ever use it? Never thought actually, right?

So, why waste this moment? Maybe this becomes the right time to incorporate this idiom in your life!

“A STITCH IN TIME” – IF YOU UNDERSTAND AND RESOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS ON TIME,

“SAVES NINE” – IT MAY PREVENT YOU FROM FACING A BIG TROUBLE AHEAD.

If you plan your subjects in a well-organized manner, then you won’t face any problem in completing all subjects afterwards and that too on time.

Well, until now, you all have googled all the strategies, all tips, and tricks, and all the shortcuts regarding the study strategies for FMG PREPARATIONS and mostly everyone is sailing in the same boat. Everyone is just repeating things.

Everyone is telling you –

  • Don’t be selective and precise while studying topics, just master all the syllabus by heart
  • Either make notes yourself or study from notes, as notes serve as a reference guide
  • Stick to your time table about how many hours you have to devote to a particular subject or topic
  • How to attempt your question paper

And so, on and on and the same things again and again. Frustrating! Right!

Everyone is aware of all these things. All of you have already –

  • Made your time tables for studying and relaxing
  • A very well sleep pattern must also be maintained
  • Accessing your weaker areas by taking short quizzes
  • Revising your topics on time and regularly
  • Giving Mock tests regularly
  • Clearing all your Doubts

Etc.

But still why there is a feeling of dissatisfaction?

Why after applying all strategies, there is no progress in marks?

Why all the subjects have not been covered yet?

What’s lacking behind?

These thoughts are always revolving on the mind, which is making things more complicated and hectic.

But, just chill guys. What you all have to do for this problem is –

DIVIDE YOUR SUBJECTS INTO DAYS. Which means

Make a plan where you study your subjects in a limited period of days.

You all are very familiar with your course subjects and very clearly you can figure out your clinical subjects, non-clinical subjects, even your short subjects as well as lengthy subjects.

All you have to do is make a study plan according to your subjects:

Let us start with non-clinical subjects:

Well, it will be bad to say but yes, the most boring and ignored subjects, Anatomy, physiology, and biochemistryè these 3 subjects will hardly take your 10 days each. So, within 1 month, 3 subjects will be over. Yipe!! Time to celebrate first victory.

ANATOMY  10 days
PHYSIOLOGY -> 10 days -> 30 days
BIOCHEMISTRY 10 days

Second, come your short subjects:

Pathology, pharmacology, microbiology, and forensic medicine è where pathology and pharma will take your 10 days, micro and forensic will hardly take 5 days each. In this way, your short subjects also get covered by the end of the 2nd month. Bravo! You made it.

Pathology 10 days
PHARMACOLOGY -> 10 DAYS -> 30 DAYS
MICROBIOLOGY 5 DAYS
FORENSIC MEDICINE 5 DAYS

Oops! Few more short subjects left? Not to worry. In continuation, let us finish them all:

Ophthalmology, ENT, SPM will hardly take your 5,5, and 15 days respectively.

OPTHALMOLOGY 5 DAYS
ENT -> 5 DAYS -> 25 DAYS
SPM 15 DAYS

In the last days of the month, these subjects can easily be revised once again. And see, all the short subjects and some boring and ignored subjects, all have been covered and completed. Time to enjoy.

Ugh! Just tighten your seatbelts, turbulence is just going to begin…. Lol…

Without any break or discontinuation in between, let us continue with the clinical and lengthy subjects.

Say, surgery, gynecology, obstetrics, medicine.

Well, randomly these subjects will be taking your 2-2 weeks each easily. Approx. 50 days can say. And in the rest of 10 days just make a quick revision for these.

GYNECOLOGY 1.5 WEEK
OBSTETRICS      ->  1.5 WEEK -> 52 WEEKS
SURGERY     2 WEEKS
MEDICINE     3 WEEKS

Feeling light now… heavy burden in down. Most of the subjects have been covered now. Only a few are left. Just charge yourself a bit and stay calm.

Now, take a deep breath and join your hands as the game is not over yet.

What about psychiatry, derma, peds, ortho, anesthesia, and radio…?

They are still in the way. But not to worry, the game is now left of few days’ guys. You just need to buckle up your shoes and start the race again and you will see within few weeks the syllabus is all over. Yes! You did it. See,

PSYCHIATRY   3 DAYS
DERMA   3 DAYS
PEDS   -> 4 DAYS -> 19 DAYS
ORTHO    3 DAYS
ANESTHESIA   3 DAYS
RADIO    3 DAYS

And just in 1 day, go through these subjects and woohoo…. You are done.

Within 3,4 months, you will be able to complete all your syllabus and too without any tension that any of your subjects is left to study.

And once you are done with this, just sharpen yourself by giving tests regularly.

I hope you all have now very well understood what does stitch in time saves nine means.

And I hope you all will be going to implement it into your study strategy and complete all your subjects on time.

So, good luck and where there is a will… there is a way…

So, study hard and hit your target.
